70 years on the throne!
As our Monarch Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II reaches an unparalleled landmark in her reign, it is right for us to be celebrating in a fitting and lasting way. Her dedication and service to the country has been exemplary and we wish to show our gratitude and admiration for all that she has done for us.
Plans for the Jubilee weekend 2-5th June are now well advanced and it is our hope that you will wish to help make Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee weekend something that generations to come will talk about. So take a look at the different initiatives being proposed, make contact with Lieutenancy office if you need guidance, and enjoy planning the most vibrant and exciting festivities.

Here in Buckinghamshire a committee which includes several of our DL's has been set up to focus on the events and projects taking place in the lead up to and for the celebration of HM The Queen's 70 year reign.

There will be year-long Platinum Jubilee celebrations throughout the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and around the world as communities come together to celebrate The Queen’s historic reign.

THE QUEENS GREEN CANOPY
The Queen's Green Canopy (QGC) is a unique tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee in 2022 which invites people from across the United Kingdom to "Plant a Tree for the Jubilee"
Buckinghamshire Update
Tree planting throughout the county will be taking place during the planting season from October - March. Schools and colleges, towns, parishes, villages and individuals are all encouraged to create their own unique way of marking this momentous Jubilee year.
PLATINUM JUBILEE BEACONS
More than 1,500 beacons will be lit throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK Overseas Territories, and one in each of the capital cities of Commonwealth countries in recognition of the Queen's long and selfless service.

THE BIG JUBILEE LUNCH
Every year since the idea began in 2009 The Big Lunch has encouraged communities to celebrate their connections and get to know each other a little bit better, coming together in a spirit of fun and friendship. In 2022 The Big Lunch will bring the Jubilee celebrations into the heart of every community.
