ALEXANDER BOSWELL DL

Alexander Boswell was appointed to the role of HM Vice Lord-Lieutenant in 2011. Prior to that he had served as the High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire in 2006/7. He was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant in 2008. He is an active Ambassador for Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes, both through his wide local business interests and philanthropic work.

He is a former Chairman of Buckinghamshire CLA (Country Land and Business Association) and has represented the association at a national level. The main focus of his community work has been in Milton Keynes, where he has served as President of the
MK Community Foundation and Patron to Bletchley Park and Willen Hospice and Board Member of The Parks Trust.

 

In 2014 he facilitated the acclaimed 'Treasures in MK' art exhibition at the MK Gallery. His current focus is the facilitation of start-up hubs in Milton Keynes. He founded the MK Investors Group in 2015 with the aim of supporting and nurturing new local business enterprises.

He is Chairman of the Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes Honours Committee, dedicated to increasing the number and quality of nominations for National Honours in the County, especially for the unsung heroes within our community.

 

The Vice Lord-Lieutenant is appointed, with The Sovereign's approval, by the Lord-Lieutenant from amongst his Deputy Lieutenants.

The Vice Lord-Lieutenant plays a substantial role in managing Lieutenancy projects.  He also deputises for the Lord-Lieutenant on many occasions at Royal visits and at other official engagements.


Male Vice Lord-Lieutenants may wear a uniform and lady Vice Lord-Lieutenants wear a special badge.
